A Security Management Platform Must Manage Events In Real Time To Manage Crisis.

A Security Management Platform Must Manage Events In Real Time To Manage Crisis.

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

The security sector has  adopted cloud-based artificial intelligence or machine learning resulting in revolutionary changes in access control, video surveillance and emerging areas like threat detection and drone identification.

A security management platform must provide clarity and control to act for greater efficiency and serve as the foundation for continuously improving security. It should optimize security operations, streamline services with real-time status updates, and manage events and team responses in real time to enable efficient management of sites, systems, events, users and data.

Artificial Intelligence Technology Delivers Proactive Security

Artificial Intelligence Technology Delivers Proactive Security and Efficient Crisis Response.

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

The early days of artificial intelligence technology (AI) and facial recognition in video surveillance were often inaccurate and prone to false positives, limiting their effectiveness. Continuous advancements in AI algorithms and processing power have significantly improved the accuracy and reliability of these technologies.

Artificial intelligence and cloud technologies have become mainstream in the video surveillance industry.  Cloud-based solutions offer scalable, flexible storage and processing capabilities, reducing the need for on-prem infrastructure.

True artificial intelligence will enable even more sophisticated analytics, predictive capabilities and autonomous decision-making. As technology continues to evolve, the possibilities for enhancing security and operational efficiency are limitless.

License Plate Recognition Technology

License Plate Recognition Technology Is A Powerful Tool To Track Individuals Movements Through Vehicles.

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

License plate recognition technology, also known as Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) or LPR (License Plate Recognition), is a surveillance system that captures vehicles’ images and identifies their license number. It uses optical character recognition on images to read vehicle license plates.

The technology provides the ability to capture an image of a license plate code, convert the code into readable text, and compare it to a registration database for identification. License plate recognition technology is used for vehicle management operations such as ticketless parking, tolling, ITS, stolen vehicles detection, smart billing, and many other applications.

Many police departments tout them as tools to enhance community security, reduce crime, and make communities safer. The technology collects data about neighborhood crimes, including burglary, home theft, vandalism.

Civil rights groups have cautioned ALPRs pose a potential violation of privacy. ALPRs collect and store data on the cars they scan, and this data is often kept for years with few or no restrictions to protect privacy rights.

Advanced AI Technology Enables Security Real-Time Monitoring to Mitigate Crime

Generative AI Technology Enables Security Real-Time Monitoring to Mitigate Crime

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

Many organizations are investing in generative AI solution, Incident + ORC Intelligence, that automatically links incidents of theft, fraud, and abuse, enabling the seamless creation of comprehensive cases to help dismantle Organized Retail Crime (ORC) syndicates.

The technology enables real-time searches across millions of incidents and provides investigators with sophisticated tools to process, summarize, and analyze related criminal activities.

This solution is specifically designed to identify connections between incidents, using key details such as suspects, narratives, vehicles, and other critical case information. This targeted approach significantly enhances the investigative process, helping investigators quickly pinpoint related cases.

Remote Loss Prevention Monitoring Enables Businesses to Secure Operations from Anywhere

Remote Loss Prevention Monitoring Enables Businesses to Secure Operations from Anywhere

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

In-person loss prevention and security audit for retail locations isn’t going away any time soon, and shouldn’t. Sometimes you just need to visit a place, if only to show the frontline workers that you genuinely care and are serious about theft and loss, and nothing can replace walking through a retail space with the on-site leader.

Remote video monitoring allows businesses to conduct loss prevention audits from anywhere. This has a couple major benefits over traditional loss prevention audits:

  • It’s cheaper because you don’t need to travel to a location to conduct the audit. .
  • It’s faster, so you can audit more stores in a day and increase the frequency of your audits

Today, asset protection professionals are being asked to do more with less these days. Remote loss prevention and security audits allow field workers and leaders to do just that.

Today's integrated technologies are transforming school safety approaches, enabling districts of all sizes to implement effective, scalable security solutions.

Integrated Technologies are Transforming School Safety

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

An active shooter situation is often cited as being extremely rare among school violence incidents in our country. Nevertheless, when one occurs, it’s always devastating, often unpredictable, and evolves quickly. Whether at a school, a house of worship, or anywhere for that matter, one is still too many.

Today’s integrated technologies are transforming school safety approaches, enabling districts of all sizes to implement effective, scalable security solutions. These systems address unique local needs and facilitate compliance with emerging legislation. By leveraging the power of interconnected systems and devices, real-time communication, and data insights, schools can create a flexible and responsive security infrastructure that is efficient and effective.

Machine Learning Lends Transformative Advances in Physical Security

Machine Learning Lends Transformative Advances in Physical Security

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

In physical security, machine learning can speed up investigations by assisting security teams in finding relevant information quickly. Machine learning helps analyze data that hasn’t been organized or labeled. By identifying patterns or possible relationships between data, such tools help security teams, law enforcement, and other staff gain a better understanding of an incident or important correlations between trends.

On the operations side, machine learning helps organizations better leverage their physical security investments. Machine learning can help glean actionable insights from the system data to ramp up productivity. This often leads to improved operations.

Enhanced Surveillance with AI-Enabled Audio Cameras

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

Audio analytics, available in many AI-enabled cameras, can add context to what operators see on the screen, helping them validate assumptions. If a glass-break detection alert is received moments before seeing a person on camera, the added situational awareness makes the event more actionable.

Is-the-human-factor-in-security-breaches-over-blown

Is the human factor in security breaches over blown?

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

Apart from revenue loss, companies who have a data breach also suffer damage to their brand reputation, lose intellectual property, lose sales, get unexpected expenses, legal penalties, etc.

Setting up a fool-proof security system to prevent data breaches is almost impossible. Companies that do this end up hindering their productivity as employees have to deal with many security checks, access permissions, third-party security tools, etc.

The best course of action is to create a balance between data protection and damage mitigation. Investing in employee security training and implementing the security strategies and tools mentioned above can prevent data breaches from harming your organization.

Drones Can Monitor Scenes Remotely To Assess A Security Threat.

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

From limited budgets to staffing shortages, public sector agencies are often challenged with performing more services in less time with fewer resources.

Drones have a variety of applications across the public sector. Security agencies can monitor scenes remotely when conducting crowd control. This visibility is also helpful when coordinating responses, as they can determine the number of personnel needed to secure a threat.
