High Level Security Protocols for the Transportation Industry is Critical

High Level Security Protocols for the Transportation Industry is Critical

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

The transportation industry is a complex and dynamic environment where efficient management of physical keys, vehicles and shared devices is critical to ensuring smooth operations, reducing costs and maintaining security. Every day, more transportation facilities are using modern electronic key and asset management systems to better secure, audit and manage the important assets that keep operations running smoothly.

Expediting efficiency. Fleet vehicles are the lifeblood of the transportation industry, particularly for larger facilities, but managing their access and usage can be challenging, especially if they’re located at multiple sites. Key cabinets play an integral role in fleet vehicle management by controlling and monitoring vehicle access, which increases driver accountability, plus they ensure even use and instill safer processes.

With dedicated features to track vehicle mileage, fuel levels, parking location and vehicle faults, key cabinets allow administrators to monitor vehicle usage in real-time, set specific permissions and access levels for each driver, receive alerts when a vehicle is due for maintenance or service, track vehicle locations and monitor parking assignments.

Protecting Precious Cargo Throughout the Supply Chain

Protecting Precious Cargo Throughout the Supply Chain

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

Stolen cargo can cost suppliers thousands to upwards of millions of dollars. The consequences of not sufficiently protecting cargo can be devastating, ranging from financial loss and damaged reputation to long-term, intricate legal disputes. And, today’s thieves are now highly tech-savvy and constantly developing modern ways and strategies to steal cargo from shippers.

Most theft crimes are not investigated because of manpower issues, so it is imperative that carriers take the necessary measures to prevent theft. Provide security training to all personnel, because everyone should be involved with protecting customer freight and company assets.

Why Construction Sites Need Proactive Security

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

Construction sites are undoubtedly one of the most challenging environments to protect from a security perspective. Construction sites are a virtual free-for-all with multiple points of entry and exits with various contractors and subcontractors coming and going at different times throughout the day.

Without proactive security measures in place, construction sites are at risk from thieves attracted to goods. From materials, tools, equipment and even fuel, thieves can be enticed by open construction sites. These open sites are also at risk of vandalism.

Security Challenges to the Transportation Industry

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

The transportation industry is unique because it plays a role in both the minutiae of everyday life and the overall economy’s well-being. Providing uninterrupted and efficient transportation services depends heavily on the safety and security of transportation entities.

Due to the vast amount of people frequenting transit stations and the importance of the items on ships and ferries, the transportation sector faces multiple challenges that evolve as the industry advances.

Safeguarding Critical Infrastructure In The Transportation Sector

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

In today’s reality, the consequences of inaction are too severe to ignore. Threats in the transport sector, including rail, go beyond the fear of potential financial losses; they can compromise passenger and cargo safety, disrupt economies and endanger national security.

It threatens the things that we care for the most, including the safety of our close ones.

Fed Security Supply Chain Security Protects Against Threats

Fed Security Supply Chain Security Protects Against Threats

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

Federal supply chain security is a protocol that monitors the risks of contracting with external logistics, transportation, suppliers, and vendors. These government measures safeguard the distribution of products and services from theft, terrorism, and cyberattacks.

Physical security is just as important as cybersecurity because it protects the business’ assets, facilities, employees, and workers. Implementing it means keeping buildings, warehouses, transportation routes, and other necessary infrastructure safe from theft, damage, and people with ill intentions. This practice applies to government clients and vendors.
