We shouldn’t have to go to work and risk our life while trying to save lives.

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

Chippenham Hospital has introduced mobile security patrols in parking areas and metal detector wands at entrances as part of a recent effort to buff security following a recent shooting.

You expect to feel safe at the hospital, we need a level of confidence that the site is secure.

Private Security Guards Have Become a Last Resort for Public Safety

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

The rampant and uncontrolled criminal activity throughout New York State. It’s unacceptable. Robberies are happening in broad daylight, smash-and-grabs, flash mobs, and criminals filling garbage bags with stolen goods are now common.

Eventually, businesses will be forced to shut down because they won’t be able to ensure the safety of their employees or customers.

Despite the weak on crime policies it’s our priority at NEXGEN Protection to do our part to ensure the safety of employees and the public when on the job.

Dutchess Security Guard Arrested for Selling Drugs to Homeless

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

Hudson River Housing Security Guard was arrested for selling cocaine at the shelter. This behavior is deplorable, clearly the screening process for hiring security staff needs to be looked at.

My firm thoroughly screens and trains our guards to uphold the mission and values of NEXGEN Protection Services, we  do not tolerate any violations to our code of conduct.

Walgreens Security Guard Questionable Use of Force Confronting Shopper

Walgreens Security Guard Questionable Use of Force Confronting Shopper

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

Stores do have a legal right to defend themselves against loss, but there are appropriate ways security details use force. This security guard gives the private security industry a bad name and contributes to a perception of abuse of power. There must be accountability for situations like this.

Firearms

Firearms & Public Safety: Operational Guidelines & Procedures

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

Certain operational roles in public safety mandate the requirement for a lethal force response, issued in the form of a firearm. Depending on the role, the firearms are usually limited to smalls arms only in the form of handguns and long-arms. With the provision of firearms comes the necessity for appropriate training and regulations governing the issue and use of these operational tools.

If operational personnel decide to undertake job roles that require a lethal force option, they have an obligation to be highly competent in the use of that tool, which includes appropriate knowledge and skills for safe and professional use of that tool in an operational context (as opposed to simply a training context). In the first instance, the burden of responsibility falls to the individual user to survive the operational environment, physically and legally.

Security Patrol Details Help Deter Crimes From Occuring

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

Communities want peace of mind when they’re sleeping, many are hiring private security firms to patrol their neighborhood.  Security Patrol details help deter crimes from occuring.

Car thieves have become more brazen, as well, with cases where they have broken into people’s homes in order to steal car keys.

Employee Access Controls Pose Significant Security Risks

Employee Access Controls Pose Significant Security Risks

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

In today’s dynamic business landscape, organizations are facing an unprecedented challenge: high employee turnover. It’s an inevitable part of the business ecosystem, impacting industries across the board.

As employees come and go, the safety and security of businesses becomes a top concern. The transitional phases, involving the change of hands in company keys and access controls often get overlooked, laying the groundwork for significant security vulnerabilities.

In the world of InstaKey, high employee turnover no longer translates to security nightmares. Every key transfer is managed with precision, ensuring that your business, employees, and assets remain safe, secure, compliant, and primed for growth.

Fast-Frictionless Self-Checkout Shopping Increases Retail Shrink

Fast-Frictionless Self-Checkout Shopping Increases Retail Shrink

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

As predicted retail shrink is on the rise as frictionless commerce creates  challenges for retail and loss prevention. Consumers prefer and will pay more for simple, fast, and efficient shopping experiences.

Over 50 percent of consumers will switch to a merchant with less friction in the shopping experience. Retailers with self-checkout lanes and apps experience a loss rate of more than double the industry average.

target-hardening

Mass Shootings: Schools Now Target-Harden Campuses

Frank Costa, President Nexgen Protection Services –

Target-hardening at schools has been a hot topic in the United States, especially as mass shootings continue and school administrators take on a more active role in security.

Schools started adding bulletproof windows and desks, stronger locks on doors, alarm systems that directly communicate with law enforcement, and artificial intelligence (AI) enabled camera systems, among other target hardening techniques. They have conducted drills and established better emergency response plans.
